Six countries.
One small table
in Groningen.

Agora Café is built from one person's route through the world — Turkish coffee, Greek freddo, Argentinian empanadas, Indian chai, all served the way they're served back home. Pull up a chair on Oude Ebbingestraat and pick a country.

The route

The menu is a map of where the owner has lived.

Necat spent the last ten years living in six different countries before settling in Groningen — not visiting, living. Every drink and pastry at Agora comes from somewhere on that route, made the way it's actually made there: maté in a thermos cup, Turkish coffee with a square of Turkish delight, mate brewed slow. The display case changes daily depending on what's in the oven.

The room

A chesterfield, a Persian rug, and a map of everywhere we've lived.

Find the lounge corner at the front — leather chesterfield, warm brass pendant lights, and a rusted-metal world map on the wall marking every country that ended up on the menu. Take a seat, order something you've never tried, and stay a while.

Before you visit

A few common questions.

Is there vegetarian, vegan, or halal food?

Yes to all three. Vegetarian and vegan options are marked throughout the menu, all meat served is halal-certified, and every milk-based drink can be made with oat milk at no extra cost.

Do you take reservations?

Agora Café is mostly walk-in, terrace and indoor seating. For larger groups or empanada box pre-orders, message us on Instagram ahead of time.

What's actually in the dessert case?

It changes daily — that's the point. Expect things like Turkish kadaif, Latin American tres leches, Greek kourabiedes, and mini cheesecakes, but the exact lineup depends on what came out of the oven that morning. Ask the team.

Do you have allergy information?

If you have any food allergies or dietary restrictions, please speak to a member of the team before ordering so they can walk you through what's safe.

Is there outdoor seating?

Yes — there's a terrace right on Oude Ebbingestraat, in addition to indoor seating.
